Tasks and Deadlines - Customizing

LegalServer includes a standard set of processes, forms, and profiles to create tasks and deadlines (deadlines appear on the task list and on the Day/Week/Month view of the calendar).

Site administrators can create dynamic processes, forms, and profiles.

Known Issues

  • Recurring dynamic tasks cannot be created.

Admin > Processes, Forms, and Profiles

  • Module: Task/Deadline
  • The Create/Edit form can be a single form. Make it available for Create and Aux process types.
  • A profile is optional, but recommended.
  • Need at least 2 processes: Create and Edit
  • A Completion process is optional. If desired, the auxiliary form should use the Completion Note/Link block.

Admin > Process Settings

The Task Settings section of this page is where administrators can point the standard "New Task" and "Edit Task" links to dynamic processes they have created.

  • Calendar "Add Task" Dynamic Process
  • Matter "Add Task" Dynamic Process
  • Default Task Edit Dynamic Process

Admin > Lookups > Task Types

Each Task Type has an optional "Complete Task Process" attribute. This allows you to choose what happens when you click on a "Complete Process" link, for example in a task list on a home page.

Should the task just be marked as complete, or do you want to show a form to the user before the task is marked complete?

  • "N/A" (the default) marks the task as complete, and in the context of the home page, the task silently drops off the incomplete task list.
  • Selecting a dynamic auxiliary process (if any exist) will call that process and load the enabled form. The top of the page will display "This task requires more work to finish completion". NB: All dynamic auxiliary processes are shown in the dropdown, even inactive ones.

Example Form and Profile

Form

The Module block is set to "None" so that the form will work for tasks on cases as well as from the calendar.

The "Notes (Generic)" block is used for notes as a workaround for an issue with the Notes field. Creating a new, singular note type for "Tasks Notes" in Admin > Lookups > Note Types is recommended.

The "Due Date w/Calculator" block shown in the screenshot has been renamed to "Due Date".
