Time - Configuring Categories, Types, and Codes

There are three types of time:

  • Time linked to cases
  • Time linked to outreaches
  • Time linked to neither. Often called "Other" time or "Support Activity" time, etc.

Each type of timeslip usually has an Time Activity Type. Case timeslips generally also have a Time Activity Code.

Most sites don't need to change/use Time Activity Categories.

But ultimately, the configuration is up to each site. More detail is available on the Time - Customizing Time Entry page.

Tip: On the Admin > Lookups page, make sure you are looking at "Time Activity Types" and "Time Activity Codes", not "Activity Types" and "Activity Codes". Pro tip: Put "time" in the search box at the top of the full list of lookups.

Frequently asked question: "I added some new Time Activity Codes, but they don't show up when adding case time. Why?"

Answer: When you add Time Activity Codes, you need to also edit the Time Activity Types. On the Time Activity Types list, click on Case Activity (or it may be called Case Related) value. After the fields at the top of the page populate, select your new Activity Codes, then click Continue to save.
