Pathfinder - Documents & Templates

This content is geared to agencies onboarding with LegalServer. While most of this content is timeless, relevant, and all around useful, not all of it will be applicable if you are currently live with LegalServer.

LegalServer allows you to view and store documents on a variety of different records, including cases, outreaches and grants. You can create a folder structure to organize your documents, or use the search feature to find a document. There are several ways to add documents, including going to Actions and clicking on "Add New Document", and dragging and dropping documents onto a folder. Documents can also be emailed as attachments to cases, outreaches, and grants. Finally documents can be generated from document templates.

Document templates allow users to generate documents that automatically insert information from a case, such as the client's name, legal problem code, primary advocate, and so on. Templates have criteria so that only templates relevant to a case are displayed by default; for example, matching the case's problem code and client's language.

Administrators create a template and upload it to LegalServer (or upload a fillable PDF), set display criteria, then map fields to markers within the template. Users see templates in the Recommended Documents list and Email Templates lists when viewing a case. Document templates generate a document that pulls information from the case and inserts it in the appropriate places in the document, while email templates do the same for a case note that can be emailed.

Where to Start

  • Gather document templates needed and attempt to map 1-2 documents on your demo site
  • Collect other documents to be created on live site
