Cases and Matters - Is there a Difference?
The short answer is no, unless your site labels things differently.
They're all matter records under the hood.
When you create a new record using a prescreen or intake process, you are creating a matter record. No matter what happens with that record, it stays a matter record. The Disposition changes, but it is still a matter record.
But some organizations think of "cases" as only including records that have the disposition of Pending, Open, or Closed. They consider prescreens, incomplete intakes, and sometimes even rejected records as "Matters".
Fun fact: Some organizations think of outreach records as "Other Matters".
All of which means the terminology varies and can get confusing. Within parts of LegalServer that site administrators can't change labels on, we try to be clear that we are referring to the "Case/Matter" module or the "Matter" module.
